More points for Fernando Monje-Gustavo Yacamán (BMW M6 GT3) in Estoril

24/04/2016

Estoril (Portugal), April 24, 2016.- The Spanish driver Fernando Monje, teaming with Colombian Gustavo Yacamán (BMW M6 GT3), has completed the second race of the International GT Open round in Estoril in the sixth absolute position, which coupled with the magnificent second sleeve held yesterday, allows both drivers included in the provisional fourth position of these international series.

In qualifying for today's race, which has made Gustavo Yacamán, has again achieved the third absolute time even without improving the record of the previous day. In any case, the clock was enough for the BMW M6 GT3 # 2 out again from the second row of the grid, accompanied this time by the second unit of BMW Team Teo Martin, who started the race at the hands of Roldan Rodriguez .

Yacamán out perfect and traced the first corner in second position after beating Francesco Castellacci (Ferrari) driver from that moment harassed hard to Colombian to advance it on lap 3. The hard pressure from Thomas Biagi (Lamborghini) also could with Yacamán on lap 8 and nearly Stéphane Lemeret also advance it (Ferrari), but Gustavo defended very well and was able to hold the position. Just as the M6 â??â??entered the pits for the driver change, Lemeret was placed fourth.

In the relay there were problems and lost valuable seconds, so Fernando Monje joined the race a little later than expected. The pilot began chic & basic right out the attack to try to recover the maximum ground as possible. During the second part of his replacement, Fernando had a tough fight with Claudio Sdanewitsch (Ferrari) and Phil Keen (Ferrari), realizing the first one but not the second, entering the goal virtually the wake of Thomas Flohr (Ferrari ), in the 6th position.

Fernando Monje: 'Although Saturday's result has no comparison with sixth position today is also a very important result because it allows us appear relatively close to the championship leaders. We have to work hard to achieve a constant rate of stroke, not less as the tires start to wear. In addition, the handicap that we had today due to second place yesterday, 10 kilos, did not help and we're done with the rear tires quite degraded. And if we add the second we lost in the relay, we can take for good this 6th place. Estoril is not a circuit that benefit us and yet out of the two races in a good overall position and a podium. Now comes circuits like Spa, where speed is very important, and certainly our pace will be much more consistent.'

After this successful first date, the International GT Open will stop nearly a month, as the competitive action will not return until day 20, 21 and 22 May at the Belgian track of Spa-Francorchamps.
