Fernando Monje (Seat) returns to America

04/09/2013

The Touring world held its 9th meeting in Sonoma (California ) on 7 and 8 September .

Touch redo the Americas . The weekend of 7 and 8 September, the IFMA World Touring Car Championship will hold the ninth round of the year at Sonoma Raceway Laguna Seca circuit , located about 75 miles from San Francisco , California. It will be a new opportunity to Fernando Monje (Seat Leon WTCC ) to continue scoring in the Yokohama Drivers ' Trophy , the competition for independent who has regained a place (8th) and still in progress.

The Sonoma is an attractive date to Fernando , and to compete on a track that NASCAR ran in June and two weeks before doing so he will have done the cars of Indy Car The WTCC premiered at this track the last year , as did the pilot of Grandvalira . There everything is 'very American' , he says, and what surrounds racing is very spectacular. In its first pass through Sonoma , in 2012 , Fernando was unlucky because the strong impact of a rival deprived him of any expectation unable to finish either race , so the RACC has traveled to the United States willing to retaliate .

'Sonoma is a path with many chicanes and parabolic actually uttered . The lines are not very long and you are quickly exit turning left at full throttle .
It's a fun track , quite different from all, and this year we aim for a good result in the Yokohama Drivers' Trophy, given that we're not blind, explains Fernando .

Preparations for this event started a few days ago . All races left before the curtain falls world are far from Spain , and that involves a hectic travel and acclimatization necessarily scheduled and agile : ' The world has this feature, really makes a tour of almost everyone and you find customs and lifestyles very different depending on the race , once you leave behind Europe. That in regard to the country , because in the micro circuit works the same , with the same interest and pressure to get the best set-up and get as much data as possible in the face of trials and make some good races. '
This time , between each race there is a margin of three hours, when normally compete one after another , which often leaves little time for teams in case you need to make changes or repairs. This Fernando hurt last year by not having enough time to fix the car , after the strong impact he suffered in the initial test .

Between Barcelona and San Francisco 's more than 9,500 miles away, which favors the times in which they will pass this test differ in 9 hours as global time zone . Again according to Spanish time , the test will respect this program :

Friday, June
Test between 21.45 and 22.15 hours

Saturday, July
Free trials at 18.00 and 20.00 hours (30 minutes per batch )
Rated at 2300 hours (35 minutes)

Sunday, August
Warm up at 17.30 (15 minutes)
Race 1 at 20.50 hours ( 13 laps )
Race 2 at 23.20 hours ( 13 laps )

Although San Francisco is really far away , in fact the closest of the four dates remaining to close the world . The United States would continue Suzuka ( Japan ) , the most remote , which exceed the 10.o00 km long , then Shanghai , in China, more than 9,700 , to finish in Macau , over 10,000 km too, although that already will be mid- November.
